Protein powders are popular, but it’s incredibly expensive and full of hidden chemicals, additives, and sweeteners, but you can make your own that is easy, healthy, and amazingly affordable. I put them in my smoothie daily and it fulfills my protein needs and gives me energy to conquer another day. I also add the protein powder when I bake breads.
Make sure you buy whole seeds rather than grounded, which is often more expensive, not fresh, nor flavorful. By grinding it yourself, you’ll keep the freshness, and you can grind as much or little as you want. Keep the seeds in a glass jar in the refrigerator. I use my blender to grind up the seeds, but you can also use a coffee or spice grinder. Add a scoop of the protein powder for the fall smoothie or detox smoothie recipes below.
You can also add various ingredients to enhance flavor such as cacao powder (chocolaty), cinnamon, vanilla, etc. Yum!

Ingredients

2 tablespoon organic flaxseeds
2 tablespoon organic hemp seeds
1 tablespoon organic chia seeds

Optional
Cacao powder
Vanilla extract
Cinnamon

Directions

Combine the ingredients in a glass jar and mix and use as needed.
